Gold prices decline by Tk 1,516

Gold prices in the country’s market have declined by Tk 1,516 following a deviation in the international market.

The decision of the price reduction would be effective from Sunday, Bangladesh Jewelers Samity (BAJUS) said in a press release on Saturday.

BAJUS said the decision was made considering the complex situation of the global economy during the Covid-19 period to cut the stagnation of the country’s market and consider the interest of general consumers.

Prices of gold earlier on May 22 rose by Tk 2,041.

Under the decreased rates, 22-carat gold will be sold at Tk 71,967 per bhori, 21-carat gold at Tk 68,818, and 18-carat gold will be sold at Tk 60,070 per bhori in the local market.

Besides, the price for the traditional method gold has been fixed at Tk 49,747.

BAJUS has kept the prices of silver unchanged. The price of 22-carat silver is Tk 1,056 per bhori, 21-carat Tk 1,435 and 18-carat Tk 1,225 per bhori in the local market.

The price for the traditional method silver is Tk 933 per bhori.

On August 6 last year, the price of gold in Bangladesh was Tk 77,216 which was the highest in the history of the country.
