B’desh targets to improve industrial productivity

Bangladesh is formulating a national productivity masterplan to improve the industrial productivity in the country.

As per media reports, Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun, during discussion with regional experts recently, underlined that the Government targets to improve the productivity in all industrial sectors from the current 3.8 per cent to 5.6 per cent within next 10 years.

With reference to the same, a 10-year national productivity masterplan is being formulated, in collaboration between the Bangladesh National Productivity Organisation and the Japan-based Asian Productivity Organisation (APO).

A statement issued by the Industries Ministry, reportedly, underlined this.

Addressing a virtual meeting organised by the APO, Nurul said to know the short-, medium- and long-term demands in different sectors, the Government is taking expert opinions.
