GP reports 9.5pc revenue growth in 9-month

Country’s leading mobile phone operator Grameenphone reported total revenues of Tk 107.5 billion for the first nine months of 2019, a 9.5 per cent growth from the same period of last year, the company said in a press statement. In addition, the operator’s subscriber base grew up by 6.0 per cent to 75.7 million during the same period, according to the Q3 financial update released yesterday. The carrier acquired 0.4 million new subscribers during the third quarter (Q3), registering a 6.0 percent growth from the end of 2018. The company also acquired 0.9 million internet subscribers, which indicate 53.7 per cent of total subscribers of Grameenphone are using internet services. “We delivered a solid business performance in Q3 despite a very challenging environment,” said Michael Patrick Foley, CEO of Grameenphone. Net profit after taxes (NPAT) for the quarter was Tk 7.3 billion, with 19.9 per cent margin. Earnings per share (EPS) for the period stood at Tk 5.38. “Grameenphone reported solid growth with strong margins in the Q3 of 2019,” said Jens Becker, CFO of Grameenphone.
