‘A total of 300,000 ICT graduates from universities, colleges, vocational institutes enter the job market each year in Vietnam’ Vietnam is keen to help Bangladesh develop skilled manpower for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR). The announcement came at a seminar titled “Digital Bangladesh: Opportunities and Challenges for Vietnam and Bangladesh” jointly organized by the Embassy of Vietnam and Better Bangladesh Foundation (BBF) at the Westin Dhaka on Wednesday. State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak attended the program as chief guest. Vietnam Ambassador Tran Van Khoa, at the program, said: “Vietnam has the second largest pool of information communication technology (ICT) human resource in Asia.” “A total of 300,000 ICT graduates from universities, colleges, vocational institutes enter the job market each year in Vietnam. From that point, we can help Bangladesh to develop ICT skilled manpower.” The envoy also urged Vietnam’s ICT companies to consider about the possibility of long-term investments in Bangladesh to utilize local IT-skilled workforce, as well as to provide more scholarships in ICT sector for Bangladeshi students. He also praised the Digital Bangladesh Vision 2021. Zunaid said: “The Government of Bangladesh greatly values the relationship with Vietnam as both countries face similar challenges.” He assured that Bangladesh Government would provide all kinds of cooperation for Vietnamese businesspeople who would like to invest in Bangladesh, especially in the ICT sector. Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) President Syed Almas Kabir presented a paper on “Cooperation between Vietnam and Bangladesh in mega ICT Projects”. He said: “Vietnam has high potential in the readymade garment (RMG) sector in Bangladesh. And we also need to adopt cutting edge technology to compete in the international market.” “Bangladesh and Vietnam cooperation will be beneficial for both countries.” BBF Chairman Prof Masud A Khan gave the concluding speech.
