Bangladesh, Sri Lanka sign MoU for youth development

Bangladesh and Sri Lanka governments signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Saturday for strengthening their youth development. 

State Minister for Youth and Sports Zahid Ahsan Russel and Sri Lanka State Minister for Rural Housing and Construction Indika Anuruddha signed the instrument on cooperation for strengthening youth development on behalf of their respective countries. 

In the signing ceremony, five other MoUs were signed and renewed.

Earlier, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka began bilateral talks at the Prime Minister’s Office in Dhaka.

The Bangladesh delegation at the talks was led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, while visiting leader Mahinda Rajapaksha led the Sri Lankan side.

Before the formal delegation-level talks, the two leaders held a tête-à-tête.

Earlier, on his arrival at the PMO, the Sri Lankan Prime Minister was received by his Bangladeshi counterpart at the Tiger gate.

Prime Minister Hasina and Rajapaksha later witnessed the signing of the MoUs.

The Sri Lankan PM arrived here on Friday morning on a two-day official visit to attend the celebrations of the birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the golden jubilee of the country’s independence.
