The Bangladesh Jewellers Samity (BAJUS) has reduced the price of gold by Tk3,500 per Bhori. According to the new price, it will cost Tk73,716 to buy a Bhori of good quality gold. A statement issued by Bajus on Wednesday said the new gold price would be effective from Thursday. Earlier, on August 8, Bajus had fixed the price by increasing Tk4,432. Within the gap of a week, the price of gold has been reduced by Tk3,500. According to Bajus, there is a global inactivity and fall in dollar and oil prices. Besides, the international gold market is also witnessing unprecedented ups and downs. Amid the downturn in the domestic gold market and considering the capacity of the public, the Bajus has set a new price for gold and silver ornaments. Following the new price, the price of per Bhori of 22-carat gold (11.664 grams) has been fixed at Tk73,716. Now, 21-carat gold will cost Tk70,567, while the 18-carat gold will cost Tk61,819. The price of gold acquired in traditional method will be Tk51,497, while the price of per Bhori of 21-carat of silver has been fixed at Tk933.
