Stocks end week in stumble

Country’s both bourses, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) today closed week posting slump as investors were nervous amid ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. At DSE, the broad index, DSEX settled at 4,069.11 points on Thursday, the last working day of week, with a marginal loss of 9.96 points or 0.24 percent. Besides, two selective indices, Blue Chip index, DSE30 and Shariah index, DSES also went down slightly by 6.32 points and 4.41 points to settle at 1368.76 points and 945.81 points respectively. On the DSE trading floor, a total number of 55,335 trades were executed in today’s trading session with a trading volume of 7.11 crore securities. Market turnover, another crucial indicator, stood at Taka 2,259.72 million which is higher than of previous day’s Taka 2,678.37 million. Losers took lead over gainers as out of 330 issues traded, 59 securities gained price while 74 declined and 197 remained unchanged. The top 10 gainers were Eastern Insurance, Pioneer Insurance, Asia Pacific Insurance, Miracle Industries, Sino Bangla, Islami Insurance, Midas Finance, Pragati Life, MERCINS and People Insurance. Beximco Pharma topped the turnover chart followed by GENEXIL, Islami Bank, GP, IBP, Square Pharma, Hakkani Pulp, NAHEEACP, Fine Foods and BSCCL. The 10 top losers were Dacca Dying, Samorita, Paramount, AMBEEPHA, Apolo Isphat, IBP, Agrani Insurance, ANLIMAYARN, Fuwang Food and BSCCL. On the other hand, port city bourse, Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed trading at red from the gaining streak of previous day. CSCX and CASPI declined by 26.89 points and 44.31 points to stand at 7,007.36 points and 11,559.25 points respectively. At CSE, a total of 80301723 shares and mutual funds of 178 companies were traded, of which 40 issues advanced while 57 declined and 81 issues remained unchanged.
