Jobike, an on-demand bicycle renting service, will launch in the city’s Gulshan, Banani, Baridhara and Niketan area on Wednesday aiming to provide a safe, affordable and environment-friendly ride. More than 100 Jobikes will be available at 22 parking spots in the mentioned areas, where riders will be able to hire a bike for Tk 1.0 per minute. Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Atiqul Islam will launch the service in the capital’s Gulshan area as the chief guest. Inspector General of Police Benazir Ahmed is expected to be present in the programme. Chief operating officer of Jobike Mohammad Mehdi Reza said anyone can make a safe trip with bicycle from particular spots using our app. “Riders can travel only in four areas which are demarcated by fences”, he said. Jobike was introduced in university campuses, including Dhaka University and Chattogram University in 2018 to provide students with an affordable mode of transport. The service is also available in Mirpur DOHS. DNCC and ICT Division are the partners of Jobike.
