Mobile phone operators lose 24 lakh subscribers in April

The mobile telephone operators in the country lost 24 lakh of subscribers in April amid a worldwide economic slowdown due to the novel coronavirus pandemic. 

In March, the number of total subscribers was 165.337 million, which dropped to 162.920 million at the end of April.

Of the operators, Grameenphone lost 9.7 lakh, Robi 8.7 lakh and Banglalink 4.9 lakh subscribers.

Besides, the number of internet subscribers also fell significantly during this period.

At the end of March, the total number of internet subscribers was 103.253 million, which slipped to 101.186 million at the end of April.
